Chilean Vineyards Report Their Earliest Harvest In Twenty Years
Chilean vineyards harvest occurs between February and April, but the 2019-2020 season has reportedly been warmer and dryer, resulting in an earlier harvest. According to Gerardo Leal, viticultural manager at Santa Rita Estates, the growing cycle of the vine was completed early. Sebastián Labbé, winemaker at Santa Rita declared that the Cabernet Sauvignon of 2020 to be exceptional.
“The high summer temperatures ensured a short and even veraison. These Cabernet Sauvignon wines have fresh fruit and floral notes recalling violets with a tremendous natural balance between the alcohol and the acidity, which ensures a long life for the wines of this vintage.”
