Kiewiet Breathes Life Into Discarded Oak Barrels
Anthony Laubsher, started his own business transforming discarded oak barrels into cutting boards, furniture and platters. When he finished university, he began to use his carpentry skills taught to him by his father to do home renovations and woodworking.
Slowly over the years, the business grew and was named Kiewiet, a childhood nickname given to Anthony. The company now uses a mentorship method of absorbing new staff into the business, with each new recruit assigned to an established member, and all the staff are responsible for the finishing off of all the products.
Kiewiet now consists of 7 friends, two temporary youngsters, and assistant and Anthony, the owner. A collective of individuals making quality hand crafted products from reclaimed oak wood.
