Women Are Rewriting History In The Cape Wine World
The hills of the Cape Winelands is located due east of Cape Town, past the sprawl of informal settlements called the Cape Flats. The Flats, as its also known, is home to thousands of people displaced during apartheid, when race-based regulations forced nonwhite people out of urban centres.
A group of black women are rewriting this history by starting their own wine labels in a historical area that was once closed to them.
